Biography
David Xuereb was born in 1960 in the city of Attard in Malta. He studied at the Naxxar Technical Institute obtaining his City & Guilds certification in Wood, Metal and Plastic Works as well as completed a 2-year course in Arts at the Polytechnic Insitute.
David has not only excelled in the visual language of his creations, whether in the figurative or in the abstract sectors, but has equally proved his expertise in the diversity of techniques and media employed. Attracted by forms, texture and colour – internally driven, and emotionally charged – Xuereb’s works of art have been described as very uplifting.
He works with a variety of mediums; Xuereb’s portfolio seems to be the works of several artists. The versatility in such a collection is what Xuereb is best known for; his ever-changing use of techniques has become his signature. The balance of wildness and sensitivity in his creations are just some of the styles you will discover when looking into Xuereb’s world.

Career Timeline
- 1989 : Opened Gallery Last Touch. To this day, it is the longest running art gallery in Malta. David has curated and organised exhibitions both for himself as well as numerous other artists ever since.
- 2002 : A collection of five paintings was purchased by a foreign company and reproduced in limited edition prints which sold in the thousands in over 18 countries.
- 2004 : Moved the gallery to larger premises, where it still resides to this day.
- 2014 : Organised the largest art festival in Malta, spanning over a month. The Bieganski Art Festival welcomed thousands of visitors and artists to the MCC – Malta’s finest venue in the capital city, Valletta.
- 2016 : Launched the “Rooftopography” concept and collection. This collection is still being requested to this day and has evolved into pieces of jewellery as well as corporate gifts. These have been presented to numerous high profile people including the Prime Minister of Malta, Dr. Joseph Muscat.
- 2017 : David was commissioned for numerous original artworks for the highly sought after BOCO Boutique Hotel in the south of the Island.
- 2017 : Mr. Xuereb partnered with AMA Ortigia, a collective which promotes artists in the Sicilian and Maltese regions
- 2017 : Launched his new project by the name of “Bil-Bajd” which resulted in an exhibition aptly named “Exhibition bil-Bajd”. David developed a technique to make large representations of eggs in mixed media, including a “Kartuna tal-Bajd” (Egg Carton), measuring 1.2m x 70cm, with 30 cm diameter eggs.
